Ce știe creierul tău și tu nu – De ce unele conversații schimbă oameni și altele se uită a doua zi

Have you ever had a conversation where the person in front of you truly got it, they understood something important, they felt it, they said “yes, that’s it”, and then… nothing happened? You’re not alone. ICF research on the Coach Approach to Managing and Leading (DiGirolamo & Tkach, 2020) shows that when managers and leaders use coaching skills, engagement rises and working relationships strengthen. But the same research reveals a real tension: leaders oscillate between being directive and participative, and their most valuable conversations often get lost somewhere between insight and action.

Neuroscience explains why. Under pressure, the prefrontal cortex, responsible for planning, reflection, and decision-making, partially disengages. The brain shifts into survival mode. No matter how powerful the insight was, it doesn’t become new behavior. Researchers call this the intention-action gap. It’s not a character flaw. It’s how the brain works.

This interactive workshop explores what happens neurologically in the space between “I understand” and “I did it”, and what leaders, HR professionals, and coaches can do to close that gap in the conversations that matter most.

Learning Objectives. By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
• Describe the neurological mechanism behind the intention-action gap and recognize it in clients, colleagues, or team members.
• Identify moments in their own practice where they already use ICF coaching competencies without naming them and make those interactions more intentional.
• Apply three neuroscience-informed tools to move people from insight toward action: micro-commitment (implementation intentions), sensory action visualization (motor cortex activation), and the 90-second regulation pause (window of tolerance).
