Practice sessions for the ICF core competencies -The Invisible Traps of the Team Coach
The Invisible Traps of the Team Coach
This interactive webinar is designed for professional coaches who work with teams or aspire to develop their practice in alignment with the International Coaching Federation Advanced Certification in Team Coaching (ACTC) standards.
The session explores common and often invisible role traps in Team Coaching, including the Expert Trap, Mediator Trap, Rescuer Trap, and Alignment Trap. Participants will examine how these role shifts—often driven by good intentions—can unintentionally undermine team autonomy, learning, and systemic responsibility.
Through reflective inquiry, case examples, and facilitated dialogue, participants will deepen their understanding of how Team Coaching differs from facilitation, training, mediation, or consulting, and why maintaining role clarity is essential for ethical and effective practice. The webinar emphasizes the team as the sole client and highlights the importance of transferring ownership of learning, decision-making, and relational dynamics back to the team.
The program is explicitly aligned with the ICF Core Competencies as extended by the ICF Team Coaching Competency Model, with particular focus on Demonstrates Ethical Practice, Embodies a Coaching Mindset, Cultivates Trust and Safety, Maintains Presence, Evokes Awareness, and Facilitates Client Growth.
Participants will leave with increased awareness of their own default tendencies in complex team dynamics, practical distinctions to support self-regulation and supervision, and a clearer capacity to remain in the role of Team Coach while supporting sustainable team development.
