Practice sessions for the ICF core competencies – Start Strong

This interactive 90-minute session, focused on ICF Core Competency 3, explores how coaches can listen more deeply, stay curious and move beyond a formulaic approach to setting session goals.

The first 5–10 minutes of a coaching conversation are the most critical — and the most underestimated. Setting the right tone, building trust and creating real clarity around what the client wants from the session is what shapes the quality of the entire conversation.

Through a live demonstration, debrief and feedback, participants will explore what a strong session opening looks like in practice  and walk away with concrete tools to apply in their next session.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Get clarity on the key elements of how to set a strong coaching session agreement, aligned with ICF Core Competency 3
  • Apply a practical framework for setting clear, client-centered session goals
  • Practice and recognize the most common mistakes in establishing a clear session outcome
  • Get a practical tool to apply in their coaching practice
