Coaching in multicultural and multilingual environment
#coronavirus reminded us that #mentoring and #coaching are also done online and that time and space barriers become permeable in virtual space.
This makes us think, that in addition to a series of challenges specific to the coaching profession and mentoring in general, the cultural and linguistic differences that are found in virtually every country both in terms of regiocultural and gender, ethnic, political, orientation sexual and any other nature bring a series of challenges to professionals in the field.
We invite you with us to debate and share concepts and experiences on coaching in a multicultural and multilingual context. Our focus will be rather on personal experiences, language difficulties and what the cultural context as a whole means. We will have guests and contributors from other continents, and anyone interested in the topic is welcome.
We will not refer to our companies, our schools, models used or other products and services, directly or indirectly. We only set out to offer a space with free participation and free of any promotion, sale, mutual learning and the possibility of awareness and deepening of the subject.
- To exchange experiences between Romanian speaking coaches in order to enrich ourselves with different perspectives
- To offer practical examples of cultural differences in order to better understand contexts, filters and possible psychological contracts
- To discuss challenges generated by cultural differences in order to ensure a deeper understanding of the phenomenon
- To identify practical solutions that can be useful in professional activity and in personal life in order to be better prepared
For whom it may be an event of interest: Coaches and professional mentors, internal or external, as well as for coaching and mentoring clients interested in the subject. Anyone who uses in a more applied or intuitive way what we call coaching or mentoring conversations, or those who want to learn more about challenges in a multicultural and multilingual context.

Cristina’s experience in the field of audit, compliance, consulting and international affairs, in more than 15 countries on 3 continents, made her realize how important it is to pay special attention to cultural differences. Each interaction with colleagues, partners, clients, etc. may be to some extent based on certain prejudices.
Located in Germany and working with coaching clients in the corporate area but also local NGOs, she often encountered situations where she needed to be aware of linguistic and cultural differences and avoid the prejudices created by these differences not to have an impact on the results.
Cristina’s goal is to make it easier for people to develop and work for the future they want through active listening, strong questions, and activating each individual’s resources.
Working in sales and marketing in pharmaceutical companies, Vlad better understood the distinction between Timisoara and Arad, and other regional and ethnic peculiarities specific to Romania. Besides skiing, he is especially passionate about traveling, both in the country and around the world, and especially the immersion in local culture and traditions. The UK, Spain and Italy are the countries hemostly visited, Vlad was in almost all of Europe, in the USA and Canada, and in the east in Israel and Turkey. He got into coaching because he enjoys and is fascinated by people, he is curious, and Vlad think that each of us has the ability to think and decide for himself, the necessary resources. His high school, college and work colleagues are spread all over the world. So are the clients he has.
