Drop the Cleverness: Why Not-Knowing Works

How do we let go of the need to be the smartest person in the room? The real work happens when we resist the urge to diagnose, and instead help people think for themselves.

- How being clever shuts down people’s thinking and can result in us taking too much responsibility.
- How great dialogue is not about data transfer but about the thinker doing the data processing.
- What’s different between hypothesis-driven and curiosity-driven conversations?
- Why value isn’t in the clever question, it’s in the thinker finding their own answer.
- And why we need to think about power and how the language of coach client already brings a power dynamic.

In this interactive session, we will experience what not knowing is like and explore some simple tweaks that will enable you to do less, work more simply and see more transformation.

Cristina is committed to advancing coaching as a human-centered capability that supports both individual and organizational growth.

Coaching (R)Evolved: A Case Study on Coaching, Connection, and AI-Driven Change

As organizations integrate AI and redesign how work happens, coaching is often expected to “humanize” transformation — yet few examine what this actually requires. This session uses a concrete case from SAP, where Cristina managed the coaching services delivered by Solutions Academy during the rollout of a new Product Operating Model, to challenge common assumptions about how coaching fits into large-scale change.

Participants will examine what happened when coaching was not an add-on but a structural component of transformation: where it accelerated learning and where it exposed tensions, blind spots, and competing expectations. The session invites participants to question:

  • How do internal–external coach partnerships hold psychological safety without diluting accountability?
  • What kind of human connection is truly needed when teams work in AI-supported environments?
  • Where does coaching strengthen autonomy and collaboration, and where does it risk becoming a compensatory mechanism for systemic issues?
  • How can AI-enabled feedback loops support reflection while avoiding dependency or loss of judgment?

Rather than offering a neat model, this session encourages participants to grapple with the complexities of embedding coaching into fast-moving systems. The goal is not reassurance but clarity: understanding what genuinely supports human connection in modern organizations — and what merely appears to.

Learning objectives:

  • Able to design a basic partnership model between internal and external coaches that clarifies roles, boundaries, and accountability in complex transformation environments.
  • Recognize and assess how coaching can function as one component within a broader set of transformation tools
  • Observe and describe how learning processes in organizations shift from occurring after implementation to becoming an active, continuous practice during implementation, especially in contexts of uncertainty, and identify how coaching supports this real-time learning.

He is the creator of the RAT-FEET™ Framework for Context Engineering ; a structured model that helps leaders and teams engage AI with clarity, precision, and human judgement.

Thinking With AI: Why Collaboration, Not Command, Unlocks Human Performance

Participants will come away from this session with inspiration, knowledge and guidance in a few core areas:
  • Reframe the AI Narrative; reframing the polarized debate of AI replacing jobs.
  • AI augmentation in the coaching practice. The consequences of using AI for the right tasks and when it gets in the way.
  • Cutting through the hype; how are people actually using AI and where can organizations focus to achieve value.
  • Understanding the productivity paradox, and why increasingly more capable AI systems require a greater level of context to achieve desired outputs.
  • Roll-based upskilling approaches; how to drive human engagement with AI by creating upskilling initiatives relevant to them.
  • Critical Thinking; understand how human judgement, skepticism and ethical reasoning remain central to safe and effective AI collaboration.
Introduction to a practical context engineering framework (RAT-FEET™) that non-technical people can use in structured workspaces instead of using AI like a search engine.

Between Knowing and Being: Returning to the Essence of Connection

We live in an era where knowledge is abundant and instantly available. Artificial Intelligence offers leaders a continuous flow of data, insights, and predictions.

Yet, amidst this wealth of information, many leaders find themselves asking: What does it mean to truly lead in times when machines can know so much? The answer is not simply about accumulating more knowledge. It is about cultivating the ability: to be present, to be receptive, to be connected.

Leadership in the AI era requires moving beyond the quest for control and certainty and leaning into presence, relationships, and trust. AI may reshape how we know, but it cannot replace how we are. It is in the way leaders embody presence, nurture trust, and hold meaningful conversations that real transformation takes place. Coaching supports this return: helping leaders pause, realign, and integrate who they are with what they do.

This workshop invites to explore the delicate balance between knowing and being. It challenges them to shift their focus from “What do I know?” to “How do I show up?”—from information to connection, from efficiency to meaning.

The leaders of tomorrow will not be measured only by how much they know, but by how deeply they can connect with people, purpose, and possibilities. In the AI era, this return to essential connections is not optional. It is what will define authentic, resilient, and sustainable leadership.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore the balance between knowing and being in leadership.
  • Understand why essential human connections matter in the AI era.
  • Learn how receptivity and deep listening strengthen leadership impact.
  • Discover how to align personal values with organizational goals.
  • Apply small shifts in perspective that lead to meaningful transformation.

Coaching in the Age of AI: Ethics, Empathy, and the Human Advantage

As artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes every field, coaching faces both new opportunities and serious ethical challenges. While AI can enhance our practice, automating repetitive tasks, organizing data, and offering insights, it can never replicate the human depth of empathy, intuition, or ethical discernment.

This keynote explores how coaches can responsibly integrate AI while preserving what makes coaching profoundly human. True wisdom lies not in letting machines lead, but in ensuring human judgment guides technology. Just as overreliance on GPS leads drivers astray, uncritical trust in AI can distort meaning and context. Coaches must ask: Did the system really understand? What biases might it hold? What perspectives might it exclude?

The true risk to coaching isn’t AI itself, but the unexamined rush to replace human connection with algorithmic convenience, a race to the bottom in quality, ethics, and trust. To counter this, ICF has an opportunity to lead globally by defining clear standards for ethical AI use and modeling responsible implementation.

By reframing AI as a partner that supports, not supplants, human judgment, we can use technology to elevate our profession. Let AI handle transactional work; let humans handle what matters most: empathy, meaning, and transformation.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this keynote, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how AI can augment, rather than replace, the human dimensions of coaching.
  • Recognize ethical risks such as bias, misinformation, and overreliance on AI-generated insights.
  • Apply critical thinking and digital literacy to evaluate AI outputs within a coaching context.
  • Articulate the unique human capacities, empathy, intuition, and ethical reasoning, that remain irreplaceable.
  • Advocate for responsible AI integration and ethical standards within the coaching profession and the ICF community.

16:00 - 16:45

Thierry Ollivero

Thierry Ollivero is a French leader and futurist passionate about the intersection of technology, leadership, and human potential. With over fifteen years of international experience across France, Germany, Austria, and Romania, he has led major transformation programs while cultivating organizations that learn, adapt, and grow through change.

Thierry believes that the future of leadership lies in balancing data-driven intelligence with emotional intelligence, in creating workplaces where curiosity, trust, and empathy are as valued as performance.

A promoter of learning organizations and a father of two, he brings a deeply human perspective to innovation, reminding audiences that progress means little if people stop learning from one another. At the ICF “Elevate Leadership” Conference, he shares how his own journey with AI transformed not only his leadership, but also his understanding of connection, humility, and growth.

When Leaders Stop Listening: The Hidden Risk of AI Dependence

In this deeply personal and thought-provoking keynote, Thierry Ollivero explores one of the most pressing paradoxes in modern leadership: as artificial intelligence becomes smarter and more efficient, leaders risk becoming less human: less open, less curious, and ultimately, less coachable.

Drawing from his own experience leading a large industrial organization through digital transformation, Thierry shares a candid story of overreliance on AI. At one point, he truly believed technology could solve almost any challenge. AI provided answers faster than any meeting ever could, and data dashboards seemed to illuminate every corner of the business.

But over time, subtle warning signs appeared. Meetings were shorter, yet colder. Disagreements disappeared. Team members stopped bringing forward their concerns. When a trusted colleague finally said, “You’re harder to talk to now.” Thierry realized that while AI had made him more efficient, it had quietly made him more distant.

That moment became a turning point. Rather than rejecting technology, Thierry set out to find balance, combining the clarity of data with the depth of human dialogue. His reflections led to a practical approach that helps leaders reconnect with their people while keeping the benefits of AI. It’s a method designed to protect what technology cannot replicate: empathy, vulnerability, and genuine human connection.

This keynote is not an argument against AI, it is a reminder that leadership is not about knowing everything, but about staying open to those who do. It invites the audience to reflect on their own habits of listening and decision-making in an age of algorithms and dashboards. And for professional coaches, it reaffirms the crucial role they play in helping leaders remain curious, reflective, and emotionally connected in a world driven by data.

Delivered with the honesty of lived experience, humor, and a deep respect for both technology and humanity, Thierry’s talk challenges one of the great illusions of our time: that intelligence alone creates wisdom.

Key Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Recognize the subtle ways in which overreliance on AI can erode openness, feedback, and trust within teams.
  • Identify early warning signs that a leader is becoming less “coachable” in an AI-dominated environment.
  • Discover practical ways to restore empathy, dialogue, and curiosity in decision-making.
  • Understand how professional coaching can act as a powerful counterbalance to technology’s growing influence. Leave inspired to build workplaces where data supports, but never replaces, genuine human connection.

Clare Norman, MCC

Clare Norman, Master Certified Coach, is dedicated to enabling people to feel truly seen for who they are. With over 20 years of coaching experience, Clare empowers individuals to find their authentic voice and express their needs, creating a more caring world.

Simultaneously, Clare is passionate about elevating the coaching profession. She advocates for higher standards and deeper awareness of coachability, ensuring that both coaches and clients are primed for transformative experiences.

Through her coaching, writing, and thought leadership, Clare is making a lasting impact on individuals, organisations, and the coaching industry at large.

Cultivating Coaching Readiness: Drawing Forth Masterful Thinkers

This session is about shifting where value is created in coaching – shifting the responsibility for value creation to the thinker. And shifting the responsibility for screening for coachability to the custodians of coaching.

Your responsibility as a coach is to take care of the process so that the thinker can create value themselves, enabling them to access their inner wisdom, connect their own dots, and find answers that match their personality, context, motivations, beliefs and values.

Therefore, the thinker needs to be ready and willing to take that responsibility for creating value. In other words, they need to be ‘coaching ready’.

In this pioneering and sometimes provocative session, Master Coach Clare Norman invites you to consider your influence on every step of the coaching experience before you even get involved right through to closing a coaching programme and beyond.

The seeds of coachability are planted at the outset of an organisation’s commitment to coaching, not at the commencement of the coaching itself.

It takes a village to cultivate coachability. And consistent nurturing by said village of coaching readiness, agency and self-efficacy.

Reclaim the joy you glean from coaching by being more demanding in the screening for and enhancement of coachability.

Learning outcomes:

  • Define coaching readiness and coachability and their significance
  • Identify the stages of the thinker’s experience where coaching readiness and coachability are important
  • Identify the role of the stakeholders who play a part in screening for coaching readiness
  • Enhance your compatibility call with coaching readiness in mind
  • Scrutinise your own coachability

The Future of Leadership Is Human: Strengthening Trust, Courage, and Culture in the AI Era

Presenter: Rich Baron, COO – John Mattone Global Master Certified Intelligent Leadership Executive Coach

Drawing on global coaching experience and proven operational leadership results, Rich demonstrates how Intelligent Leadership empowers organizations to build trust, strengthen accountability, and accelerate performance.

Key Themes:

  • AI accelerates operations; leaders elevate the human experience
  • Culture, courage, and trust are the new competitive advantages
  • Coaching is a strategic engine for transformation — not a remedial intervention
  • Human-centered leadership makes organizations more innovative, resilient, and future-ready

Learning Objectives:

Participants will learn how to:

  • Strengthen trust and psychological safety across the organization
  • Differentiate AI-driven efficiency from human-driven effectiveness
  • Develop leadership character and maturity using Intelligent Leadership frameworks

Dave Buck

Coach Dave Buck is an MBA, Master Certified Coach, and the CEO of CoachVille, the original global online community for Coaches with members in over 70 countries. He is the creator of a revolutionary new coaching method called: Human Connection Coaching.

Coach Dave is a leading visionary voice of professional coaching. He collaborated with Thomas Leonard, the “Founding Father” of Professional Life and Business Coaching, to found CoachVille in 2000.

Coach Dave is a champion of the Next Generation of the Human Potential, Life Coaching and Micro Business Movements The Next Generation of Human Potential is transforming our awesome Human Nature into magical Human Connection SKILLSETS and MINDSETS that we can use to materialize our dreams with less struggle and disappear of problems with less suffering.

The Next Generation of Life Coaching is guiding practice of SKILLSETS and MINDSETS; rather than mostly asking questions or providing expert solutions.

The Next Generation of Micro Business is face to face Human Connection rather than impersonal industrial transactions.

Coach Dave says: You can get your power back by practicing Human Connection with a Coach!

After AI replaces millions of joyless jobs, we humans will have to re-invent local economies based on exchanging Human Connection Experiences.

Going back to the origins of professional Life Coaching, a 2008 independent global survey of 10,000 professional coaches named Coach Dave the 7th most influential person in the history of professional coaching.

Coaching the Magical Power of Human Connection

Human Connection Coaching is a revolutionary new method of coaching. The framework is that coaching is guiding practice to facilitate transformation of awesome Human Nature into magical human connection skillsets and mindsets... that the client can use in the world to materialize their dreams with less struggle and disappear their problems with less suffering… and BONUS: co-create a better world for everyone.

Human Connection Skillsets and Mindsets are desperately needed by everyone and especially business builders and community leaders. These are the skills that AI CANNOT replace.

This is a framework for coaching that AI cannot replace.

Unlike asking questions and listening or being an expert with solutions, which are both already being replaced by novice coaching bots for pennies.

A good metaphor for this coaching framework is the tennis coach… who is out on the court with their client playing tennis and using their skills and experience to provide the right level of challenge to cultivate growth WITH the client.

In Human Connection coaching you are practicing Human Connection situations WITH your client… YOU are “on the court” playing and practicing and GROWING yourself as you guide the path of transformation for your client.

When your client practices with you in a safe space, they EMBODY the skillsets and mindsets that they need to pursue their Dreams with the people around them in a way that FEELS natural.

In this playshop, we will co-create an experience of guided practice of a Human Connection Situation that will give you a taste of what is possible.

Join our Oxford-style showdown where Iulia and Andreea clash over whether digital tools amplify trust, creativity, and inclusion—or quietly erode authority, loyalty, and wellbeing.

Expect algorithmic bosses and enterprise social magic in the same ring. You’ll leave with insights on harnessing technology for high-involvement leadership—and hard questions about surveillance, autonomy, and loneliness.

Pick a side, challenge your priors, and help decide: is digitalization the great leveler… or the silent wedge?

The attendees will practice the ICF core competencies “Maintains Presence” and “Evokes Awareness (Changing Perspectives)”.

They will be able to structure dialogue around dilemmas better and apply sustainable, ethical leadership to digitalization processes.
